Wetland Banking Hurts Urban Areas

But it looks so good on paper, right economists? I mean, gee, it gets rid of that producer and consumer surplus and puts everything in equilibrium! Marginal cost = marginal benefit, right?

Wetland banking does not take into account the geological, edaphic and climatic factors that have influenced the formation of wetlands, the genetic diversity contained therein, and the relationship between wetlands and their neighboring ecosystems. If you can show me how you put that into your economic study that has lead you to the benefits of wetland banking, show me.

For some odd reason, developers like to build on wetland areas. Do they like sinking buidlings? I've not been able to understand that one.
