Possessed to Skate

There is no skate park in Beverly Hills, CA. Skaters resort to grinding on the front steps of the local high school. Residents complain of property damage to the school and the way the kids dress.

"'They look like the kids with raincoats with guns underneath, that gothic look,' said Ronnie, a homeowners association representative who didn't want her last name used for fear of retribution from skateboarders."

Wow. We've come far since Columbine. Maybe they could require them to dress as jocks while they skateboard. Would that make you feel more at ease?

The school has perfect skateboarding "habitat." If they built a skate park with comprable obstacles and more, they could help to curb the damage that skate boarding on public property, but labling these kids as gun-toting, psycho killers does not help. At least the kids are excercising and getting outside.
