Chop stick tax in China

In order to curb waste and save China's shrinking forests, China has proposed a 5% tax on disposable wooden chopsticks with many up in arms over this "threat" to a 5,000 year old tradition.

I actually think this tax was enacted more to get the Chinese to consider the environment than to cut down on the use of disposable chopsticks. A 5% tax on an item that inexpensive is not likely to cause much change in market behavior even in China
