Urban Ecology Institute to Rally with Bostonians

The Urban Ecology Institute (UEI) will join with hundreds of Boston area residents concerned about global warming to hold the One Earth, One Climate Rally on Saturday, April 14, 2007, in order to urge Congress to reduce carbon emissions 80% by 2050. UEI’s presence will highlight the roles healthy urban ecosystems, such as an increased urban tree canopy in Boston, could play in addressing the global warming crisis.

The One Earth, One Climate Rally is part of the nationwide Step it Up campaign, which is organizing more than 1,000 rallies in 49 states on April 14. Hundreds of people are expected to attend the Boston rally, which UEI is sponsoring in partnership with the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Boston Climate Action Network. The Boston rally will feature live music by The Chad Hollister Band, and speakers will include Union of Concerned Scientists President Kevin Knobloch, renowned environmental journalist and author (The Heat is On, Boiling Point) Ross Gelbspan, and Paul Epstein, M.D., Associate Director of Harvard Medical School's Center for Health and the Global Environment.
