EAB and Ash Yellows correction

The E-Forester from SAF reported wrong information on the vector of Ash Yellows. It turns out that the Emerald Ash Borer does not spread Ash Yellows as was reported in a previous post here.

"In the March 12 issue of The E-Forester, in the item regarding ash trees, it was stated that, 'green ash and white ash trees are the species most often affected by the disease known as ash yellows, which forest health experts suspect is spread the emerald ash borer (EAB).' That was incorrect.

"The EAB is not a vector for ash yellows disease. According to the USDA Forest Service publication, How to Identify and Manage Ash Yellows in Forest Stands and Home Landscapes, 'Ash yellows is caused by wall-less microbes called mycoplasmalike organisms, which invade the tree systemically and are presumed to be transmitted by leafhoppers or related insects.'"
