The Right Mix of Trees: Urban Forests and Global Warming

Fighting carbon dioxide requires reduction of emissions at the source and a way to sequester carbon. Enter trees and shrubs as part of the equation (not the answer as your hippy bumper sticker suggests). Researchers at SUNY-Syracuse have come up with the right mix of trees for Syracuse, which could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2% in ten years and decrease the release of potentially harmful volatile organic compounds from plants.
