World Deserts under pressure

Expansion of deserts, converting them cropland, climate change, and encroaching urban development are wasting away biologically sensitive deserts worldwide. Contrary to popular belief, deserts contain some of the most unique biota on the planet and are not just barren wastelands. People of desert communities worldwide are calling for better management of deserts and other arid areas.
