FYI from the Franklin Park Coalition:
Franklin Park Friends -
Join us for a Park History Walk on Sunday morning, June 25th from 9-11 am with Mark Swartz, a ranger from the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site. You will enjoy Mark's stories about the early days of the park and Olmsted's original designs for the "gem" of his Emerald Necklace. We will visit the Valley Gates, Playstead Overlook, White Stadium, the Old Bear Dens, Rock Garden and site of the Rose Garden. The walk is co-sponsored with the Dorchester Historical Society. Meet at the back entrance to the Zoo next to the Playstead (big playing fields where the festivals are held).
The FPC Summer Youth Crew starts Monday, July 10th - look for them in their green t-shirts working all over the park. If you have a special job you think needs doing or would like to volunteer for a few hours with the crew, let us know!
The Elma Lewis Playhouse in the Park season promises to be fabulous! Join us in the park on Tuesdays from July 25th - August 15th and for a final Movie Night on Monday, August 21st featuring the family hit, Madagascar. Children's shows on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 welcome summer camp groups and all ages. Evening shows start at 6:00 - bring a picnic supper and your lawn chair. Attached you'll find the press release with all the dates and artists. Download it and mark your calendar!
