I don't know much about graffitti, but Banksy, namedropped in that article, is one of my favorite artists. He's as thoughtful as Pignon-Ernest, and though there are large disparities in their aesthetics, I think they would agree on several points: http://www.banksy.co.uk/outdoors/tramp.html
And this Banksy quote I like, just for the heck of it: "Billboards are like having millionaires throw rocks at your head. You never asked to see them, they invade your life and make you feel inadequate. Time has come to pick up the rocks and throw them back."
Founded in Boston, MA in 1998, the Urban Ecology Institute (UEI) and its community and educational partners have been improving the health of urban ecosystems through education, research, and community action. Our mission is to help urban communities build healthy, vibrant cities by educating residents about their environment, connecting them to each other, and engaging them in the transformation of their neighborhoods where people love to live.
