Emissions are degrading soil's ability to foster plant growth
A classic case in the study of limiting nutrients. Sure, increased CO2 may ensure increased primary productivity for sometime, but without enough nitrogen and in some cases, other nutrients, plants can't keep the same rate of carbon absorption. What is the major source for many of these nutrients? Why, the soil of course, a complex matrix of inorganic colloids, ions, water, gases, organic debris, fungus and microbes.
