Affordable Green Buildings: "Champagne on a beer budget"

A building in Portland, OR, "is on track to achieving LEED Platinum - the U.S. Green Building Council's highest ranking - upon its completion in summer 2006." It's also coming in at 10% under budget on what it would cost to build a similar building based on conventional architecture and design principles.

Time to pop the cork on the Andre, beer of champagnes.

A how-to book is being published about this building, which will hopefully allow inexpensive (but not cheap) green design to be exported to cities outside of Oregon.
