Ohio: Give us our thumbs back
In response to mounting criticism and the results of the Dover trial and the fact that you can't grip a football without thumbs, Ohio has dropped is curriculum standard that evolution be challenged. However, rather than under the guise of "Intelligent Design," the curriculum calls it "Criticial Analysis." Doubt and uncertainty are parts of every science, but the way the curriculum was presented was that their are two, equally valid sides to the evolution debate. Furthermore, the curriculum provides teachers with multiple examples of ways that the theory of evolution can be undermined, but with little or no ways to question the hyptheses competing with the theory of evolution. Among scientists, there is little debate over the acceptance of evolutionary theory. New research continues to shed light on evolutionary mechanisms and increase our understanding of how it happens. So what do the alternatives have? Nothing but untestable hypotheses and philosophical papers.
