Squirrel vs. Squirrel

Grey squirrels from North America have displaced the native Red squirrel in the UK and therefore face a massive cull. It's the law of competitive exclusion at work. I wonder if the proliferation of the grey squirrel has lead to more or less oak and hickory dispersal on the other side of the pond?
