What's scary about this is that the game-plan for the government's approach to this issue was designed by conservative thinktanks- whom are hardly impartial in this matter. Many of them serve special interest business and industrial organizations that stand to benefit from the direct exploitation of natural resources. One of the leaders of one such organization uses a definition of eco-terrorism that could be interpreted more broadly than the government's: "any crime committed in the name of saving nature," which "includes but it [sic] not limited to crimes officially designated as 'terrorism' by the Federal Bureau of Investigation."
I don't use violent means to accomplish environmental protection nor do I condone them, but given the interests and goals of some of the people behind this push for fighting eco-terrorism, it should concern people as to how far some of them are willing to interpret the law for their means.
