Violence in France

I felt the need to post this because this really should remind us of our own Urban Crises, such as the race riots in Detroit in 1943 and 1967. Let us not forget that not all riots arise from racial tensions either.

France is now recieving harsh criticism from both the American Left and Right. Both sides here are criticizing France for not integrating its Arab and Black populations and keeping them marginalized socially and physically in ghettos. Other than that, though, you won't find much analysis of the problem in the mainstream media. Not many have been daring enough to ask how it all turned into this. It isn't enough to just repeat that France did not do a good job of trying to integrate immigrants into society. What has lead them to that point and what can that teach us about our own Urban Social Issues and poverty?

I think that this article is at least a start in the right direction as far as trying to analyze the problem.
